VTL DiagramA turnkey solution

Businesses are simultaneously demanding faster and simpler access to archived data, while dramatically increasing the amount of data that must be archived, to achieve regulatory compliance and satisfy other requirements.

As existing tape backup systems can become obsolete, many companies want utilize cost-effective disk for backup and archival functions to eliminate many of the common problems associated with tape backup, but the project is oftentimes to expensive and complex to implement.

North American Systems offers an appliance-based solution that integrates seamlessly with many existing tape backup systems and software, allowing companies to implement a disk-based backup and archival solution. Take advantage of the performance and reliability advantages of backing up to disk, with the option to export to tape libraries for long-term vaulting & retention.

Proven technology

Our VTL appliance is powered with FalconStor’s® virtual tape library technology, a respected technology that has been adopted by various storage OEMs. Able to utilize iSCSI or Fibre Channel protocols, the “virtual” tape cartridges can then be replicated remotely for disaster recovery, or transferred to physical tape libraries without affecting the backup window, which can be completely eliminated by integrating NASI’s CDP (continuous data protection) appliance with the VTL appliance. In addition, this solution encrypts data en route, for advanced data security.
