Where Innovation
Meets Solutions
The Tivoli Access Management solution tackles the difficulties
of implementing security policies across a wide range of Web and
application resources by supplying two critical technical requirements
for e-business: the ability to support virtually any type of user
authentication method, and the ability to then control access to
virtually any type of resource for authenticated users.
Unified, policy-based security with this software simplifies the enablement of various business and online initiatives. In addition you can deliver a flexible SSO (single sign-on) to users across various Web applications platforms. Advanced, standard-based authentication and authorization policies and APIs enable rapid application development with J2EE, ASP.NET, and C/C++. An important component of SOA, Tivoli Access Manager for e-Business eliminates the security & authentication redundancies that existed in the pre-SOA architecture, and supports a variety of open standards such as X.509 V3 client certificates and SSL (secure sockets layer).
Users won’t have to remember multiple usernames and passwords with Tivoli Access Manager for Enterprise Single Sign-On. As enterprises deploy more Web-based applications, it oftentimes leads to employees having to remember another username/password combination. Productivity lost from employees who forgot and/or need to reset passwords becomes a factor, and as users get frustrated from password combinations that must be changed at different intervals, they adopt poor security practices such as writing down passwords, selecting easily-guessed passwords, and sharing logins with other coworkers.
In addition to simplifying the login and authentication process across multiple applications, this software enables the enforcement of strict password and security policies to decrease vulnerabilities. Passwords are stored in a highly-secured area with Triple Data Encryption Standard (Triple DES) and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithms.
