Value-based RAID subsystems

The Rorke Data Galaxy 3G RAID are great cost-effective storage solutions that combine high availability and performance with scalability. With the ability to used a combination of serial-attached SCSI (SAS) and Serial ATA (SATA) drives, choose between single and dual controllers, and scale up to 4 JBODs (12-bay or 16-bay models), the Galaxy 3G is flexible enough to provide businesses with a configuration that meets their requirements.

With the Galaxy 3G RAID systems, you can administrate your data from a centralized, web-based GUI that is embedded into the hardware. In addition, the Rorke Data 3G supports Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OSX, and is compatible with Apple’s Xsan.

Choose between single or redundant, hot-swappable dual controllers running in active-active or active-passive failover configurations, each controller has dual host connections. Availability is maximized with redundant, hot-swappable components like power and cooling modules, which are field-replaceable to minimize downtime.

FC-to-SAS/SATA

Supporting up to any mix of 12 x 3Gbps SAS or 3Gbps/1.5Gbps SATA II hard drives, the Rorke Data Galaxy 3G FC-to-SAS/SATA unit provide superior flexibility for Fibre Channel architectures, and supports the newest 1TB drives.

The FC-to-SAS/SATA RAID subsystems include dual 4Gbps FC host interface ports per controller. RAID levels 0,1,1E,10,5, RAID6, 50 & 60 are supported with multiple global dedicated hot-spare drive support. Any combination of the supported RAID levels can exist on a single unit simultaneously. This Galaxy 3G RAID configuration also supports LUN mapping and LUN masking for SANs and enhanced clustered configurations.

SAS-to-SAS/SATA

This Galaxy 3G model provides the flexibility of mixing and matching any combination of 3Gbps SAS, 3Gbps SATAII, or 1.5Gbps SATAII drives, and supports the newest 1TB drives, allowing you to build a RAID system that meets your price/performance needs.

JBOD Expansion

The Rorke Data Galaxy 3G can be expanded with up to 4 JBODs. The expansion JBODs are connected via external 3Gbps SASx4 ports, and are available in 2U 12-bay or 3U 16-bay configurations. Featuring a self-configuring expander for full SAS topology management, these JBOD expansion units also support SMP SAS Management Protocol. All expansion JBODs include dual redundant 400W (12-bay), or 500W (16-bay), hot-swappable, field-replaceable power units.
