Designed as a building block for high-performance computing clusters, the pSeries 655 is designed to meet the stringent demands of HPC applications such as scientific and technical computing and BI (business intelligence), which require very large databases or massively parallel processing.

Packaged in a very dense 4U half-wide “thin node”, up to sixteen p655 nodes can be installed in a system frame with as many as 128 processors—capable of delivering over 1/2 peak teraflops of clustered performance.
