Beware of “herding”

“Herding” is a term used in the mutual fund industry to describe the rapid price adjustment that can occur when a fund changes their portfolio. Mutual funds have many shares of each stock they hold, and can adversely affect the value of what they are trying to sell because of the sheer volume of the “sell” bids they put on the market.
