IBM’s newest offerings into the midrange computing marketplace feature
the brand-new 64-bit POWER6 chips, and virtualization technology. Designed
for consolidation of multiple workloads, these new systems have the capability
to dynamically allocate resources where they are needed most, providing true “on-demand” architecture.
The new IBM POWER line of servers, featuring the POWER6 processors, represent the migration of the iSeries, System i, AS/400 platform, with the pSeries, System p, RS/6000 platform onto a single family of servers.
Also available through North American Systems are the System x Intel-based server solutions. These systems deliver great availability and price/performance packages, as well as tight integration in the i5 and p5 systems, for a unified and easy-to-manage IT infrastructure.
IBM's System i, or Sysem i5 , builds on the popularity of its OS/400 operating system by running on its latest version, i5/OS. With up to two simultaneous instruction sequences per processor and up to 10 partitions/processor, you an run up to 254 partitions per system. Designed for consolidation, the i5 systems can run simultaneous instances of the i5/OS, AIX, Linux, and Windows (with the integrated xSeries architecture option), as well as handle your Java, Websphere, and Domino application workloads.
For legacy AS/400 systems, we also offer the legacy IBM iSeries Systems.
IBM’s System p or IBM p5 servers, deliver efficient, cost-effective solutions for your corporate computing environment by utilizing micro-partitioning technology, so that many UNIX and Linux workloads may be consolidated onto one system. Dynamic logical partitioning allocates resources where they are needed, on-demand. Optional virtual LAN and virtual I/O can be included as well, allowing your system to maximize the use of all computing resources.
North American Systems also offers legacy IBM pSeries & IBM RS/6000 systems.
