The HP Integrity rx8640 systems support Instant Capacity upgrades to support rapid CPU scalability with hot-spare, allowing business to rapidly respond to changing business requirements. In addition the virtualization capabilities allow for true consolidation of multiple operating systems with features such as hardware partitioning (nPars).

The HP Integrity rx8640 servers are also offers investment protection by supporting future upgrades of the Itanium line, and allowing for the mixing and matching of multiple generation Itanium chips on a single board.
