Operating Environment Charts
In addition to its renowned HP OpenView network management
tools, HP has incorporated a complete set of system-level
management tools into HP-UX 11i that integrate with each other
and allow management of thousands of servers from local and
remote locations. Designed for increased productivity and efficiency,
HP-UX 11i workload management tools and products provide
extensive capabilities for allocating system resources among
application loads.
HP hard and soft virtual partitions (vPars),
in conjunction with HP’s
automatic, goal-based workload management, enable the isolation
of multiple operating environments to ensure privacy and uptime
while providing the highest degree of flexibility by dynamically
re-allocating resources.
All HP-UX 11i system-level and workload
management functions
and products are integrated under HP Servicecontrol Manager,
which provides a single, secure administration point for system
administrators. HP Servicecontrol Manager integrates with all
the
tools mentioned in the table below and also features:
- Web-enabled
graphical user interfaces — enable intuitive operation
of integrated management tools
- Group operations — allow system management
commands to be
executed simultaneously on multiple systems
- Role-based management — allows
system administration
capabilities to be allocated based on need
- Security — enables traffic
authentication and encryption between
the central management server and the managed node
- Audit logging — logs
all tasks, keeping track of target nodes,
actions taken, results, and the user performing the tasks
