Hitachi NAS capabilities are provided via the Universal Storage Platform with NAS Blades and Network Storage Controller, delivering performance, scalability, and reliability for file-based storage. Another NAS option from HDS is the NAS option for the Workgroup Modular Storage and Adaptable Modular Storage systems.

USP with NAS Blades & Network Storage Controller

By leveraging NAS technology with NAS Blades and the Network Storage Controller from HDS on the Universal Storage Platform, you can effectively consolidate NAS & SAN onto a single platform. All storage can be unified, including existing SAN & NAS, as well as direct-attached and ESCON/FICON. The HDS Universal Storage Platform provides advanced virtualization and heterogeneous storage management for NAS volumes, enabling them to be stored on Fibre Channel or SATA drives, depending on requirements.

NAS Option for Modular Storage

The Hitachi Data Systems AMS1000, AMS500, AMS200, and WMS100 modular storage systems can all be configured with a NAS option that enables CIFS, NFS, & FTP workloads to be managed from the Universal Storage Platform & Network Storage Controllers. The Adaptable Modular Storage 1000 system with the NAS option provides the ability to intermix native NAS, Fibre Channel, SATA & iSCSI, while the AMS500 & AMS200 supports either Fibre Channel or SATA drives with the NAS option. The WMS1000 model is a cost-effective way to support NAS via SATA in an easy-to-install package.
