Although it is critical to store many of your business's application data and databases for redundancy and backup, much of you important data is still located on end users local hard drive and DAS (direct attached storage). Laptops, high-end workstations, and desktops at headquarters and especially remote and satellite offices contain data important for your business as well.

This host-based replication software solution from FalconStor, DiskSafe, provides either continuous, or scheduled replication of data from end users and other remote host-based systems to a centralized NASI Storage Core appliance. DiskSafe delivers centralized data protection and management for block level data, for disaster recovery, data storage, and backup storage applications.

Replication can occur over a LAN, WAN, or FC (Fibre Channel) connection, and simplifies the backup process. Since most traditional DAS environments require backup and replication agents on each server, remote mirroring for satellite offices is a cumbersome process, and with shrinking backup windows, many times require a tape library on every remote server for local backup. DiskSafe enables the painless creation of multiple copies of block level data while keeping the host-systems available, ensuring maximum productivity.

Bandwidth usage is minimized by only transmitting “delta-blocks”, or blocks of data that have changed since the last replications. This approach to mirroring also provides optimal performance and efficiency utilizing the resources you already have.
