Where Innovation
Meets Solutions
Normally desktop machines have three-year lifecycles, and desktop refresh projects are oftentimes costly and resource-intensive projects. By moving to a desktop virtualization software solution, the refresh cycles can be oftentimes doubled.
Going to a desktop virtualization environment doesn’t require the purchasing thin clients for all users. Users can continue to work from their existing machines, and since a disk drive isn’t required anymore, the usable life of the end-user computer is maximized. This way, IT departments can continue to leverage their existing investments while adopting new technologies.
Thick clients, the desktops and laptops used in almost all corporate environments, include a number of moving parts, most notably the disk drive. Traditional desktops and laptops normally have a useful life of three years before they need to be replaced, and as refresh cycles are reached, there are a number of decisions that need to be made in terms of operating system version, application compatibility with applications. Thin clients are not only cheaper to buy, they last much longer, since they are lacking moveable parts.
