Ethernet Switches

With wire speeds of up to 18 million packets-per-second, the Catalyst 2900 series provides all the Ethernet switching needed in many small- to medium-sized wiring closets in a single systems without the need for additional modules, cables, or interconnects.

Featuring high-performance Layer-2 switching, this switch provides an effective method for improving performance and eliminating network congestion. Full duplexing capabilities are included on all ports, with up to 1024 VLANs and a 24Gbps backplane. Models include:

• 2980G, up to 80 ports of wire-speed, non-blocking performance with large MTBF reliability, and end-to-end VLANs with EtherChannel, multicasting, and security
• 2948G, same features as the 2980G, but with 48-ports instead of 80
