Meets Solutions
The
p570 Express editions deliver the power, flexibility, reliability,
and scalability for UNIX® and Linux® commercial and HPC
computing applications.
Based on the POWER5 processors, that deliver enterprise-class computing power, with features like simultaneous multi-threading, micro-partitioning, and IBM’s Virtualization Engine™ include many of the functions that used to only be included with the most expensive and sophisticated servers.
The p5 Model 570 Express systems are designed with scalability in mind, built on IBM’s unique building-block architecture. Packaged basically as modules, you purchase modules as needed, which can include up to four CPUs, memory, media, disk, I/O adapters, and power and cooling units. Two of these modules can be connected with a unique cabling system to create a full bus-speed backplane for a single symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) server.
The IBM Virtualization Engine includes technologies like simultaneous multi-threading and allows you to run multiple independent Linux® and AIX™ UNIX® workloads on the same systems, even on the same processor. Micro-partitioning allows you to define virtual servers as small as 1/10th of a processor, in increments as small as 1/100th of a processor.
In addition, IBM’s dynamic LPAR (logical partitioning), helps assign systems resources, including processors, memory, and I/O, on the fly. This maximizes your server’s throughput, and ensures consistent response times, promoting whole new levels of productivity and efficiency from your IT investment.
