The IBM Blade Server JS22 brings the advantage of IBM’s 6th-generation processor technology, POWER6 to the BladeCenter chassis. The JS22 can help consolidate UNIX, IBM i, and Linux workloads onto a single platform designed to save costs and reduce complexity.

Feature 4-cores of 4.0GHz POWER6 processors, the JS22 blade server has the ability to scale from 1GB to 64GB of DDR2 main memory with 4 x DIMM slots. In addition, this blade server includes a single internal disk bay supporting a 73GB or 146GB SAS drive, 1 PCIe 8x and 1 PCI-X slots. The Blade Server JS22 Express edition is designed to support the advanced I/O capabilities of the BladeCenter S and BladeCenter H such as 4X InfiniBand®, 4Gbps Fibre Channel, & 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

Enhanced Virtualization for Consolidation

Virtualization is the technology that allows multiple copies of IBM i, Linux, and AIX UNIX to run concurrently on a single JS22. The POWER Hypervisor™ is the base of the virtualization capabilities on the JS22 and enables advanced virtualization technologies like LPAR, dynamic LPAR, and virtual LAN, allowing computing resources to be intelligently provisioned on-the-fly. Computing resources can be transparently shared across partitions, increasing system utilization while ensuring applications are provided with the resources they need to operate according to business requirements.

PowerVM Standard Edition software comes standard with the IBM Blade Server JS22, enabling advanced virtualization technologies such as Micro-Partitioning™, which allows partition granularity of less than one CPU. Up to 40 micro-partitions can be supported on a single JS22 blade server.

Extend the resiliency of the workloads that run on your Blade Server JS22 with PowerVM Enterprise Edition, which includes Live Partition Mobility (LPM). LPM allows running workloads running on partitions to be migrated from one physical server to another without disruption.
