The HS21 blade server for the IBM BladeCenter platform supports the latest in Intel Xeon
Take advantage of Intel’s dual-core Xeon CPUs with the IBM HS21 blade server. Take advantage of the shared 4MB L2 cache and support for single- and multi-threaded applications. The HS21 also includes high-performance features such as Intel Extended Memory 64 and high-speed fabrics with the BladeCenter H, even thought the HS21 is compatible with the entire BladeCenter chassis family.
The HS21 expands for capacity for up to 32GB of fully buffered memory per server. This cutting-edge technology features the same modular architecture designed for maximum compute density, but they also take advantage of new technology to reduce cooling and power costs without sacrificing performance.
Take advantage of technologies like 2Gb & 4Gb Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, Myrinet, or 1X & 4X Infiniband with the HS21 blade servers expansion PCI slots.
| IBM HS21 Extended Memory Blade Server Specifications | |
|---|---|
| Processors | Up to 2 x Dual-core Intel Xeon Processor up to 3.0GHz, or Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5345 with 2.33GHz and up to 1333MHz front-side bus |
| Max cache | 4MB L2 shared cache with dual-core CPUs, or 2 x 4MB L2 cache with quad-core |
| Memory | 32GB Fully Buffered DIMM |
| Hard drives | Small form factor SAS (serial attached SCSI) drive and one optional internal 4GB modular flash drive |
| RAID | Integrated RAID-0 or -1 standard on blade server, integrated RAID-1E or RAID-5 optional with SIO Blade |
| Networking | Dual Gigabit Ethernet, up to 12 ports with SIO blade and MSIM card |
The MSIM Combo Form Factor card double port count per blade and offers 10Gb Ethernet expansion options. With the SIO blade and MSIM option the HS21 Extended Memory supports up to 12 ports on a single blade; 4 on the I/O base and 8 ports on the SIO (Storage I/O) Blade.
The HS21 blade servers are also packed with high availability features. With features like an integrated system management processor, Predictive Failure Analysis®, and light path diagnostics, you are ensured of maximum uptime of your blade server computing loads. In addition, you can add or change HS21 blade servers without disrupting the operation of other blade servers in the same IBM BladeCenter chassis.
Calibrated Vectored Cooling™ maintains the health of your system by keeping components cool, so you can maximize compute density. This technology includes features such as open-air inlets on each blade to deliver efficient front-to-back cooling with significantly increasing server infrastructure costs.
