UDO technology for WORM and other long-term retention solutions

IBM’s newest optical libraries, the 3996, offer more than five times the storage capacity of the legacy IBM 3995 optical libraries, with 30GB Ultra Density Optical (UDO) technology. Designed for data retention and regulatory compliance needs as well as other long-term archival storage solutions, the 3996 offers models that can scale from 960GB to 5.2TB of capacity.

All 3996 libraries connect to IBM System p and System i servers via an LVD SCSI interface, and each model supports any combination of rewritable recording technologies as well as permanent Write Once/Read Many (WORM), for regulatory compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA.

An optional barcode scanner can be added onto any IBM 3996 optical library. The bar code reader can:
