The IBM 3592 provides a solution for those who need fast access to data and high capacity backups, where in the past you had to choose one of the two, now you can have both. Ideal for heterogeneous environments, its ability to provide fast access at high capacities, combined with WORM compatibility for regulatory compliance, make it possible to adopt a single tape technology regardless of the archival or backup solution.

The 3592 tape drives support up to 40Mbps native data transfer rates, and feature high capacity tape cartridges with 300GB native data capacity. That means, with 3:1 data compression, the IBM 3592 drives can deliver 900GB capacity per cartridge and 120Mbps throughput.

Compatible with IBM’s System i, System p and System x servers via the 3592 J70 tape controller, you can share the 3592 tape drives across multiple operating systems, even among open hosts on your SAN, or between ESCON® & FICON® hosts.

The 3592 tape drives are also compatible with the following IBM tape systems:

3494 tape library - it can co-exist with 3490 & 3590 tape drives

3584 tape library - it can co-exist with 1^st and 2^nd generation LTO drives
