IBM BladeCenter HX5

The IBM BladeCenter HX5 blade server model provides top-notch performance for the most-demanding virtualization applications, and high-performance applications like database, business intelligence and modeling and simulation. The HX5 is a dual-socket, single-wide blade server that supports Intel Xeon 7500 & 6500 model processors, with a clock speed of up to 2.66GHz, and can have 4, 6, or 8 cores per processor.

• up to 128 GB memory
• 978 MHz front-side bus
• dual, hot-swappable drives, SAS, SATA or SSD, up to 100GB internal storage per blade
• optional RAID-0, RAID-1, and RAID-1E support

IBM eX5 Technnology

The IBM BladeCenter HX5 features the latest in IBM X-Architecture, fifth-generation eX5 technology. Features include:

• Integrated Management Module (IMM), for remote control access to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot from anywhere
• Advanced light path diagnostics that offer proactive problem solving and faster time to repair
• Redundant rear-access power supply and fast access to processors and memory for simplified serviceability
• Chipkill memory for recovery from a failed DRAM module
• Memory ProteXion, which enables an additional single-bit DRAM error on a DIMM beyond Chipkill to enhance data integrity
• Memory mirroring & DIMM rack sparing, for redundant data content in the event of an uncorrectable memory & memory rank error events

Expandability

The IBM HX5 blade server includes 1 high-speed PCIe expansion card connection, and one standard-speed PCIe connection. In addition, the HX5 blade server is scalable to four processors, which transforms it to a double-wide form factor, and supports up to 2566GB of memory. With the MAX5 add-on, you gain another 24 memory DIMMS, expanding the available memory to 320GB, and upgrading the front-side bus to 1066MHz for faster memory access.
