IBM BladeCenter HS22

The IBM BladeCenter HS22 model blade center is a single-wide dual-socket blade server designed with virtualization in mind. With the performance, power & cooling functionality required for a wide range of enterprise applications, the HS22 includes 12 fully-buffered DIMMs, which can support up to 192GB of VLP DDR3 memory per machine. This large memory capacity enables you to fit more virtual machines into each blade.

Standard HS22 blade servers come with a single processor, with the ability to add another one. The Intel Xeon 5500 and 5600 series processors, running up to 3.6GHz, are supported in the HS22, which includes quad- and six-core models, and includes low voltage options. Other features include:

• 4MB - 12MB L3 cache
• 1333MHz front-side bus
• up to 1.0TB internal storage
• support for RAID-0, -1 and -1E
• support for RAID-5 with optional battery-backed cache

Expandability

For internal storage, the BladeCenter HS22 supports up to two hot-swappable SAS, SATA or solid state drives, supporting up to 1.0TB of internal storage, and allowing you to balance between performance and capacity requirements.

The IBM HS22 blade server includes 1 x CIOv slot for a standard PCIe daughter card, and 1 x CFFh slot for high-speed PCIe daughter card, for a total of 8 I/O ports for each blade, 4 x high-speed or 8 virtual I/O ports with Virtual Fabric for IBM BladeCenter. The 10Gbe Virtual Fabric Adapter can be integrated into the HS22 blade server, but standard models include dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with TOE.

Reliability, Availability, Serviceability

The BladeCenter HS22 conforms to NEBS/ETSI standards, making it suitable for ruggedized and telecom environments. Other RAS (reliability, availability, serviceability) features include:
